Drain You
I started this portrait of Kurt Cobain during the 20 year anniversary of his death, but haven’t been able to bring myself to finish it. I’m not entirely convinced yet that it looks enough like Cobain, I think it’s too cutesy and doe eyed. Maybe he’ll look more rugged and grungey once I finish the hair.

Sundial

This project was a strange one, it surrounded the theme of design intervention, so my final outcome is a sort-of-brochure for a redesign of a window display (if that makes any sense). Anyway, the cover is probably more interesting than the content, I tried Japanese binding for the first time instead of regular saddle stitch, will definitely use it again.

Clumsy Cloud
I’ve finally finished the book cover project I’ve been working on since January. The brief stated the cover needed to be abstract, I don’t think I’ve made mine anywhere near abstract enough, but this project has been a huge learning curve for me as I had no idea how to use InDesign prior to this. I hope my tutors notice how far I’ve progressed.

Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?

I was in the mood to draw something pretty tonight. I normally stick to rough textures but it’s nice to do something soft and feminine for once, I chose the beautiful sextathlon as inspiration - I absolutely adore her blog. This illustration, like a lot of the work I’ve done recently, was drawn on black paper with a white pen, but I just love inverting the image to see how the shadows translate!
